The Environmental Board would like to issue a reminder that all possible environmental violations, pollution incidents, animals in need of help or dead animals can be reported through the state helpline, 1247. These cases often require a quick response. Sending information through the state helpline helps it reach the inspector or official of the corresponding county quickly.
Environmental information can be forwarded through the state helpline 1247 since the start of this year — as this is a rather new development, not everyone has yet had the chance to grow accustomed to it.
“We receive a lot of notifications to our customer support helpline 662 5999. However this number is meant to help customers with using our information systems or filling applications and forms. Our customer support helpline can also be used to ask about our organisation of work or environmental questions in general, for example about the issuing of fishing or other environmental licenses or restrictions in place for nature conservation,” says Meelika Tamberg, manager of the customer support bureau for the Environmental Board.
The state helpline 1247 is managed by the Emergency Response Centre, specialising on forwarding information and in possession of the necessary technological solutions to do so effectively. In 2021, the Emergency Response Centre assembled all information and helplines under the state helpline of 1247. The uniform number is easy to remember and is available 24/7. Calls made to 1247 are free. Notices can also be forwarded through e-mail at 1247@1247.ee.
The Emergency Response Service opened the state line on 16 March 2020. “1247 has become a service as important as 112, one that Estonians expect the state to provide. This helps us keep the emergency lines open for people whose life, property or health is in danger,” said the manager of the Emergency Response Service of the 1247 helpline, Karmen Oks.
