Restoration of spawning areas

With the support of the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund (EMFF) 2014-2020, the Environmental Board is carrying out actions to improve the spawning conditions for fish in the sea, rivers and lakes (EMFF Measure 1.18).

The aim of the measure is to protect and restore marine biodiversity and ecosystems. In order to implement this, the installation of artificial spawning areas in the Gulf of Riga and the restoration of spawning areas in the sea and inland water bodies are financed.

The budget for the measure for 2014-2020 is approximately EUR 3,000,000, out of which 75% is financed from the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund and 25% from the Estonian state budget.
