According to the survey results, 36% of working people are open to job offers from the Environmental Board. "Of course, this news makes me happy because we have consistently worked hard to create a good working environment at the Environmental Board," said Rainer Vakra, Director General of the Environmental Board, commenting on the results.
Those who would consider working in the Environmental Board most often justified it by wanting to do something for the environment. Working at the Environmental Board was evaluated as interesting, varied, and full of opportunities and development. The stability of the Environmental Board as an employer was also highly appreciated.
The Director General of the Board confirmed the fact that the work at the Environmental Board requires a sense of mission. "At the Environmental Board, you can really change the world: all of our more than 540 people work every day to maintain a good living environment for future generations," said Rainer Vakra. "The work is also interesting and varied because we have a very wide field of responsibility, from granting environmental permits to companies to restoring seminatural meadows and radiation monitoring," he said.
Apparently, the fact that the Environmental Board has been offering flexible working conditions even before the corona era is less known to the public. "We have a principle that specialists can do their work in the office closest to their home, of which we have a total of 31 in different parts of Estonia. This is certainly one of the arguments why we also earned the gold label of a family-friendly employer this year. Of course, all such titles oblige us to work even harder to maintain and develop a good working environment," added Rainer Vakra.
In April 2022, 1,002 employed Estonian residents participated in the reputation survey of public sector agencies organized by Kantar-Emor. This is the first time public sector agencies have been ranked in this way. Among the public sector institutions, the Environmental Board was followed by the Rescue Board, Statistical Office, Eesti Pank, and the Ministry of the Environment.
At the same time, a cross-sector employer reputation survey took place, with over 2,310 respondents. Eesti Energia and Tallinna Lennujaam hold the leading positions in the overall ranking of the labor market, while Skype/Microsoft is third.
